Putting an end to cervical cancer in Tennessee!

Jeanie Dassow, MD, University Of Tennessee - Chattanooga College Of Medicine

Mountain Tops and Bottoms Program (MTaBs)

Objective: To educate low income African American and Hispanic women on risk factors for breast and cervical cancer, signs and symptoms, screenings, and resources for diagnosis and treatment.

Description: Developed in the Southeast Regional office of TBSCP, the program is presented by a health care provider (APN, MD, or RN) and community agencies participate for attendees to get information. Pre and post tests are given to the attendees. TBCSP eligible women have the opportunity to schedule appointments for services during the presentation. A postcard with proof of screening is returned to the health department and is placed in a drawing for a $ 25.00 gift card. Refreshment/meal as well as door prizes are typically provided.

Progress: MTaBs events were held in Hamilton County and Grundy County in fiscal year 2014-2015

Outcome: 170 women attended MTaBs in 2014-2015
